Jean Gay Thompson Coullias' Obituary
Jean Gay Thompson Coullias, age 84 of Gainesville, passed away Friday June 16, 2017. Jean was born March 17th, 1933 and was a long time resident of Gainesville, Florida. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School Class of 1951. She went back to school later in life and got her Associates Degree at Santa Fe College when she was 50.
Jean is survived by her beloved companion Douglas “Buck” Buck of 35 years, her brother William “Bill” Thompson, her daughters Suzanne Coullias (Robert A Cooper) and Marianne Coullias-Munn, four grandchildren, Samantha Hitchcock-Ward (Nick Ward), Jake Hitchcock (Jennifer Hitchcock), Savanna Munn and Gunner Munn and two great-grandchildren, Leighton Marie Hitchcock and Maverick Hitchcock Ward.
Jean loved her family, her dog Blackie and traveling the world. She was an avid wind surfer all the way into her sixties. She loved tennis, cycling, aerobics, dancing, swimming and sailing and so much more. She cherished her many friendships and held them dear to her heart.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a local animal shelter on her behalf.
There will be a private ceremony to place her ashes in the Sebastian Inlet so she can travel with the tides.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for friends and family. A date will be announced soon.
