Jean Roody Bernier's Obituary
Jean Roody Bernier, age 65 of Gainesville, Florida passed away on Saturday December 21, 2019. He was born on January 2, 1954 in Port-de-Paix, Haiti to Stuart Benoit Bernier and Odette Desir (Rebecca Joseph).
Jean grew up in New York, where he received his bachelor’s degree at Albany State University. He also ran in the New York Marathon. He loved animals, playing the guitar, and traveling. He was a stone-cold soccer fan and enjoyed bike riding. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his granddaughters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy L. Wilkerson-Bernier; father and mother in-law, Amos & Ruby Wilkerson; children, Darnell Bernier, Nadine David (Cary), Brian Bernier, Alex Bernier, Jason Bernier and Isabelle Bernier; stepchildren, Chloe Wilkerson-Webb, D’angelo Wilkerson, Richard Joseph and Christopher Joseph; sisters, Sonia Provilien, Gladys Bernier, Myrtha Bernier (Jean Jr Charles), Marie Stuart Louis (Raymond), Kuschnie Bernier, France Bernier, Elsie Jeanty (Frantz) and Nicole Hendriquez (Richard); sisters in-law, Amy Corbit and Angela Agnew; brother in-law, John Wilkerson (Denise); grandchildren, Juliette David, Lenina David, Vada David and Valona David; step grandchildren, Amia Wilkerson and Dangelo Wilkerson; nieces, Magda Provilien, Pamela Elder (Marcus), Kimberly Bienaimee, Caroline Ferdinand, Tamara Johnson, Christina Bernier, Amanda Jeanty, Tatiana Hendriquez, Melissa Gaspard, Stephanie Gaspard and Vanessa Gaspard; nephews, Pierre Provilien, Mark Roche, Wesley Pierre, Ralph Bernier, Gracia Bienaimee, Randy Louis, Ricardo Louis, Kevin St. Vil, Marlon Bernier, Jeffrey Ferdinand, Patrick Louis, Steven Gaspard, Billy Gaspard, Michael Jeanty and Richard Hendriquez; step nieces, Jasmine Agnew, Brittany Robinson, Caitlyn Corbit and Iyanni Duncan; and step nephews, Jonathan Wilkerson and Jamuri Agnew.
He is preceded in death by his sister Yolette Bernier.
A visitation will be held on Saturday December 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St, Newberry, FL 32669, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m with Herbert Jefferson officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at University City Elks Lodge, 511 SW 4th Ave Gainesville, FL 32601.
