Jay Allan Linkenhelt's Obituary
Jay Allan Linkenhelt, 73, of Gainesville passed away surrounded by his family at Haven Hospice on September 25, 2016. He was born April 13, 1943 in Peru, Indiana to Maurice and Helen Smith Linkenhelt. Jay graduated from Noble Township High School in Wabash County in 1961. Jay married Dianne L. Tyner on July 11, 1961. Jay retired from GM Delco Electronics in Kokomo, IN after 30 years of service. In 1990 Jay and his son Jeffrey established J&J Electric in Kokomo until he moved to Gainesville, FL fulltime and started another electric business; Preston-Link Electric. Jay loved his family and friends whom he made in and out of business. His favorite hobbies were flying his airplane, boating, going to the beach, and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne; three children, Jeffrey Jay Linkenhelt (Glenda) of Galveston, Indiana, Janet Ann Hart of Gainesville, and Debra Lynn Gera (Matthew) of Gainesville; seven grandchildren, Autumn and Matt Ray, Annie and Robert Hart, and Cameron, Trisha, and Eric Gera, and two great-grandchildren, Ciara Ray and Layla Hart.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12:00 noon p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to The Ronald McDonald House, 1600 SW 14th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
