Janice Peterson Gelatt's Obituary
Janice Peterson Gelatt (81) passed away at North Florida Regional Hospital 21 September 2021 following a long illness. She was born in St Paul, Minnesota. (Ramsey County) 28 August 1940 to Harold E Peterson and Dorothy Kase Peterson. St Paul, Minnesota.
Janice Gelatt graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1963 (ALA), Minneapolis School of art in 1964 (BFA), and the University of Pennsylvania (MFA; 1965). She taught art classed at the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia, Kansas State University Extension in Manhattan, Kansas, and Adult Education, Santa Fe College, Gainesville.
She is a member of the First Lutheran Church, Gainesville, Florida, Minnesota Artist Association, the University of Florida Veterinary Auxiliary, University of Florida Women’s Club, Gainesville Fine Arts Association, Auxiliary to the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, where she served in many capacities.
She is survived by her husband, three children, three grandchildren and her sister and brother. In lieu of Flowers, donation may be made to First Lutheran Church, Gainesville. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.
