Mrs. Janet Mae Sjoblom's Obituary
Janet Mae Sjoblom, 77, resident of Gainesville, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mrs. Sjoblom was born February 29, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late William Marshall and Christine LaHair Cape. In 1963 she married Mr. Kurt Sjoblom, to whom she was married for 43 years until his death in 2006. She lived in Maine for many years, raising her family, and moved to Gainesville in 1985. Mrs. Sjoblom worked for as an administrative assistant for the University of Florida, retiring in 1998 while working for the McKnight Brain Institute. Along with her husband, she was an active and founding member of The Family Church in Gainesville. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and spending time crafting.
She is survived by her four daughters, Susan Neo (Michele Owen), of Roseville, MN, Karen (Dan) Kays, of Hawthorne, Debbie (Shannon) Boal, of Waldo, and Bonnie (Eric) Carver, of Alachua; one brother, Johnny (Paula) LaHair, of Las Lunas, NM; two sisters, Barbara Roy, of Las Lunas, NM, and Patricia (Dennis) Carlberg, of Webster, MA; Eight grandchildren, Daniel and David Kays, Heather Krutzfeld, Stephen Carlisle, Jr., Kelly Flakes, Benjamin Gfrorer-Boal, Sara and Andrew Drow. Nine great grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M., in The Family Church, 2022 SW 122nd Avenue, Gainesville, with Pastor Max Wilkins, officiating.
