Janet Malatesta Correia's Obituary
Janet Malatesta Correia, 96, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Saturday, June 20, 2026, following a long illness.
Mrs. Correia was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on June 13, 1930, daughter of the late Vincent and Ida Malatesta. She came to Florida in 1965 and lived in Lighthouse Point, Florida, before coming to Gainesville in 1980. Mrs. Correia was the Director of Finance for the Civitan Regional Blood Center before her retirement. She along with her late husband of 63 years, Mr. Charles Correia were founding members of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Malatesta, and a son, Charles Correia.
She is survived by a daughter, Marian C.Waring, of Gainesville; by three sons, Stephen Correia, of Gainesville, David (Rebecca) Correia, of Clermont, and Thomas Correia, of High Springs. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
