Jane Louise Habermel Scharf
Sellersburg – Jane L. H. Scharf 82, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Gainesville, FL. She was born on February 16, 1936 in New Albany, Indiana to the late John F. Habermel II M.D. and Louise F. Ratterman Habermel Bridwell. Jane was a graduate of New Albany High School.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Edward Willis Scharf; children, Mark Edward Scharf, Matthew Edward Scharf (Beth) and Stephanie S. Smith (Henry) brother David Benjamin Habermel (Jacque): and grandchildren, Lillian Annie Beauchamp (Greg), Ruby Louise Scharf, H Hartzell Smith III and Hayley Jane Smith.
The family would like to thank the late Theodore and Alma Otten for their special love and care for Jane throughout their lives.
Jane was a kind and loving wife and mother who always put others before herself. She had a special place in her heart for dogs; Jane never met a dog that didn’t love her.
Following Jane’s wishes, her life will be celebrated during a private family ceremony.
