Jane Smith Nelson's Obituary
Jane Smith Nelson, age 86 of Gainesville passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born November 22, 1930 in Suring, Wisconsin to Joseph Peter and Mabel Sophie Sorenson Smith.
She was a resident of Gainesville for more than 50 years and a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church. She was an elementary School teacher for 10 years. In her younger years she was an avid bowler, and she enjoyed playing Bridge and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles W. Nelson.
She is survived by her children, Christina Nelson Robertson (Preston), Dana Z. Miller (Mark) and Mark H. Nelson (Cheryl); sister, Jeanette Arndt; grandchildren, Loic D. Robertson, Mattie L. Robertson, Chase A. Miller, Lance C. Miller, Calvin H. Nelson and Elyse K. Nelson; great grandson, Amadeus Dela Estrellas; nieces, Barbara Ries (Michael), Sandra Shave (Donald), Susan Smith, Terry Smith, Amy Smith, Patti Poradek; nephews, Nicholas Orovich, Drew Hauck, Joe Smith, Greg Smith, Daniel Pagel, Randall Pagel and Brian Pagel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 13, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd St, with Fr. John Phillips as celebrant. A reception will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Village Tower Club. Mrs. Nelson will be buried next to her husband at Florida National Cemetery.
