Jane "Janie" Russell Leslie's Obituary
Jane “Janie” Russell Leslie, age 70, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1955, to Russell and Willie Mae Lancaster Padgett.
Janie was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1974. She had a deep love for gardening and was known for her ability to grow just about anything. Janie also enjoyed fishing, and the beach was her most special place—a place where she found peace and happiness.
Last year Rusty took Janie on a month long trip for her 70th birthday to Sturgis, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Leslie and her loving boyfriend, Rusty Perkins.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Katina Sprouse and husband William; brother, Roy Padgett and wife Lois; sisters, Maryann Crumpton and husband Tim, and Cindy Kendall.
In honor of Janie, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
