Dr. James R. Saucerman's Obituary
Dr. James R. Saucerman of Gainesville died Monday, December 17, 2018 at Harbor Chase. He was 87.
James was a retired professor of English. He completed his Ph.D. in English at University of Missouri.
Born in Colorado Springs, Co., and retiring in 1997 from teaching thirty-nine years, four years at Scottsbluff High School, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and thirty-five years at Northwest Missouri State University, chairing the English Department his last thirteen years there. Previous to teaching, Jim served as an X-Ray technician in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Jim moved to Gainesville with his wife, Alvera, following retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Gainesville.
James was a devoted husband and father and dearly loved by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Alvera Saucerman; son, Jim Saucerman and daughter-in-law, Debra Saucerman, two grandchildren, Drew and Jay Saucerman and two great grandsons, Christian and Connor Saucerman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 N Main Street, with Rev. David Leonard officiating.
