James Pearson, Jr.'s Obituary
James Pearson, Jr., 83, longtime resident of Hawthorne, Florida, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, following a long illness.
Mr. Pearson was born on October 17, 1932 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late James, Sr., and Mamie Sloan Pearson. As a young man, he joined the U. S. Navy, and later moved to Hawthorne, and began a long career with the Alachua County Public Works, retiring in 1988 after 27 years of service. After his retirement, he spent all of his available time hunting, and he was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Pearson is survived by five daughters, Vivian Roxby, Jane (John) MacKinnon, and Annette (Andy) Gay, all of Reidsville, GA, Jackie Pearson (J. W.) Smith, of Hawthorne and Dell Pearson Spikes, of Citra; one brother, Colon (Marie) Pearson, of San Mateo; and one sister, Helen Brown, of Palatka. Eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 A. M., in the Antioch Cemetery, Lochloosa, with Rev. Carley Pearson, officiating.
