James "Mike" Pearson's Obituary
James “Mike” Pearson, 77, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on May 24, 2025.
Born on June 14, 1947, in Union, South Carolina, Mike was the son of the late Jake and Pearle Pearson. He graduated from Union High School in 1965, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina, and later received a master’s degree from Queens College.
Mike served his country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, before embarking on a successful career as an International Sales Manager with Vistakon. Known for his warm demeanor, sharp wit, and steadfast dedication, he formed lasting connections across both his professional and personal life.
Mike was an avid reader, a loyal Gamecocks football fan, and someone who found immense joy in time spent with his grandchildren. Whether going on long walks, taking his beloved dog, Stacy, to the dog park, cheering on USC, or sharing stories from his military and professional days, Mike made every moment meaningful.
He is survived by his children: Michael Pearson Jr., his wife Brittany, and their sons Trey and Davis; Collin Pearson, his wife Monica, and their son Teddy; and Whitney Blea, her husband Chris, and their children Peyton, Jackson, Isaiah, and Chloe. He is also survived by his former wife, Faye Cabaniss, the love of his life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will share details once arrangements are finalized.
