James Michael Braddock's Obituary
James Michael Braddock, age 79, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Gainesville, FL. He was born October 3, 1943 in Miami (which he affectionately pronounced “My-am-uh,”), Florida.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet (spouse, Danny); son, Michael; and adopted family members, Rita, Fred, and Steven. He is also survived by nieces, Stacey, Kim, and Donna; nephew, Clifford; grandchildren Anthony, Tommy, Eric, Hunter, and Shelby; and best friends Robert and George.
Jim was a caring son and brother, a faithful and loving husband, and an amazing father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend. Jim made his home in Gainesville, FL, and was a devoted and kindhearted patriarch. For his family he held many titles: teacher, caretaker, mentor, and best friend. Jim was also a devoted Christian and role model for all who were fortunate to love and be loved by him.
A Time of Celebration with his family, friends, and guests will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, FL 32601. In lieu of flowers, please make a heartfelt donation in Jim’s name to Haven Hospice, the Humane Society, the ASPCA, or your local donkey sanctuary.
