Joanie Glueck
All of my family memories of Jim are fond and fun! He was kind and had a quick wit. He is my husband ,Edwin's, uncle-but he was just as much my sweet uncle. He would come out to Washington state every year to stay with us for a week and he would go to his class reunion at Bellarmine Prep and visit childhood friends. He stayed close with all of us and made us feel very special-as if everything in our lives was so very important. He mentored my husband for years, especially when Edwin's father died when Edwin was just 15 years old. He gave valuable counsel to my son regarding medical school. One of my favorite memories was when he flew out several years ago and went to watch my youngest son at football practice at Bellarmine Prep. Our coach introduced him to all of the boys and Jim threw the ball around to the quarterbacks. He was 84 years old at the time! Jim had been the QB for them in 1946 and took them to their first championship in 1947 He was adored by his mother, Marie, and he was always a gentleman with her-although he and she had quite a sense of humor with each other. My family is better for knowing and loving him and he will be missed. He made a huge contribution to the world with his work in research and teaching, but it was the little things he did that endears him to my family.
We love you!
