James "Jim" Douglas Shotton's Obituary
James “Jim” Douglas Shotton, age 76 of Alachua, Florida passed Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was born November 2, 1944, in Lynch, Kentucky to Jess and Nola Ison Shotton.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army. While in the army he was stationed in Germany, he grew to love Germany. He was very proud to be an American and especially an Army veteran. Jim was Army thru and thru.
In younger years he enjoyed line dancing with a group in Georgia.
Jim enjoyed playing pool and enjoyed the ocean, but he loved the outdoors.
You could see Jim’s smiling face at the Hathcock Center in Alachua where he volunteered for years. He never met a stranger; and could start up a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Shirley Ann Baker of Alachua; sister, Betty Jo Haas and her husband, Fred of Ft. Thomas, KY; nephews, Brad, Fred and Kevin Haas; great nieces and nephews, Ashley, Chelsea, Carson, Delilah, Jesse, Mandy and Michael Haas and Buck Horn.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors.
