James Havelock's Obituary
James Havelock went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7th. He was born and raised in Gainesville, FL on September 28th, 1942.
He graduated from GHS in 1960, then served in the Army. After serving in the Army James returned to Gainesville where he went to the University of Florida, became a Master Electrician, and married his wife, Blanche, of 58 years. Together they had 4 children and a lifetime of memories. James belonged to IBEW 1205 where he was a member for 35 years.
Together, James and Blanche owned Southwest Retirement Home ALF for 21 years. After retiring they moved to Bell for 11 years, later returning to Gainesville in 2016. James loved all animals and met his second sole mate, a yellow lab Yepper in Archer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with spending time with family, bowling, gardening, and working in the church. James was a Deacon at New Hope Family Church in Bell, FL where he spent his time attending church and bible study. More recently Blanche and James became members of Countryside Baptist Church.
James will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John J. Havelock & Velva Scott; inlaws: George & Johnnie Young; siblings: Samuel Ingram, Avalon Dinter, John Havelock, & Melvin Scott; daughter: Evon Havelock; and Best Friend: Yepper. James leaves his wife, Blanche Havelock; children: Angie, Amanda, & Mark (Katrina) Havelock; granddaughters: Brandi Parker (Travis) and Brittany Holder (Jordan); 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Flowers are appreciated but donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Countryside Christian School.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 10, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry. A funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside Baptist Church, 10926 NW 39th Ave. Gainesville. Burial will follow in Jonesville Cemetery.
