James L. Benson's Obituary
James L. Benson, age 86, died peacefully on October 29, 2016. He was born June 29, 1930 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the son of Henry and Sallie Benson. He was a longtime resident of Melrose, FL, member of Eliam Baptist Church and a painting contractor for over 60 years. He will truly be missed but those left behind are comforted in knowing he is finally at peace with GOD.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen, of 61 years; his daughter, Ann Dampier and his son, Mikel Benson. He is survived by a brother, Bill Benson (Blanca) of Masary Town, FL; his two sons, Donny Benson (Marsi) of Gainesville and David Benson of Melrose; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery. Lunch will be served at Eliam Baptist after the burial.
