Jacqulyn "Jackie" Rae Bechtol's Obituary
Jacqulyn Rae Bechtol “Jackie” born Oct 21, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio and resident of Gainesville, FL for 40 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep, unexpectedly, on December 27, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Bechtol, daughter Lori Skibitski, son William Bechtol, son-in-law Pete Skibitski, daughter-in-law, Janine Bechtol and five grandchildren: Carolyn, John, Luke, Matthew and Julia.
Jackie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend with an infectious smile. Always up for socializing or traveling, Jackie enjoyed dining out, playing with her grandkids and watching Gator football. While she was born in Cleveland, she was raised in Eustis, Florida, where her parents owned the popular restaurant The Colonial Club. She attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. and shortly thereafter, married her high school sweetheart, Bob. They had two children, moved to Gainesville in 1979 and celebrated their 47th anniversary this past November. She worked as an office manager for much of her career, most recently with Focus Real Estate Group for the last 11 years.
Jackie loved orchids, a good cheeseburger, the color coral, opals, Jimmy Buffet, coffee ice cream and spending time with her many friends. She had just returned from celebrating a lovely Christmas with her family in Atlanta.
A Memorial Services will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Forest Meadows Central. There will be a reception at the home of Bill & Janine Bechtol after the burial. 3029 NW 38th Street, Gainesville FL 32606.
