Jacky Bryan Strickland's Obituary
Jack was born in Alabama and moved to Gainesville, Florida in the early 1950’s. He graduated class of 1961 from Gainesville High School. He later studied Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising at the University of Florida. He graduated with a degree in journalism and played on the football team where he will forever be known as the “OL’ BULL GATOR”!
He worked as a Former Journalist/Author and wrote “A Trap for Fools” and many others. He was also a Columnist/Reporter at Evening Independent, a Columnist at The Associated Press, a former Spokesman at the American Cancer Society and he was an advocate for Prison Ministries and many others.
Jack has gone on to be with his Lord and Savior, his beloved wife, Elizabeth Strickland (Mrs. Liz), his parents, James Burton Strickland and Annie Loree Graben Strickland, as well as other family and friends.
His legacy lives on through his family, friends and all who crossed paths with him.
In the famous words of Jack, “Take time to stop and smell the roses”. “GO GATORS”!
Jack’s Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Westarea Chapel, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry.
