Jack Clarence Thomas Jr.'s Obituary
Jack Clarence Thomas, Jr., 89, passed away in Chiefland, FL, on December 8, 2025. He was born in Alachua, FL, on January 31, 1936, to Jack C. and Josephine Thomas, Sr.
Jack proudly served in the US Army; he retired as Colonel from his 37 years with the Florida Department of Corrections. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to piddle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Theresa Thomas; his daughter Karri Whiting (Tim); his sisters, Mary Douglass, Joann Stengal, and Sharleen LeBrun; his brother, Len Thomas; his grandchildren, Christian Whiting (Kaitlin), Alyssa Schoen (Brett), Juliana Slayton (Gage), and Veronica Whiting (Kade); and great-grandchildren, Gennavieve Schoen and Hudson Slayton.
He is preceded by his daughter, Patricia Annette Thomas; his parents, Jack C. Thomas, Sr. and Josephine Thomas; and his siblings, Betty Branch, Jackie Thomas, Johnny Mack Thomas, and Linda Sue Thomas.
Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, 3449 CR-340 High Springs, FL, with Pastor Tim Wimberley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Alachua, FL. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Williams-Thomas Westarea Chapel, 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry, FL.
