Rev. Ivan Emerson Felton's Obituary
Rev. Ivan Emerson Felton, 83, of Alachua, Florida, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 following an extended illness.
Rev. Felton was born on September 2, 1934 in Orlando, Florida. As a child his family moved to Key Largo where he graduated from high school. After graduating from Columbia Bible College in Columbia, South Carolina and Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, he pastored churches in Indiana and Florida before settling in Miami where he was the longtime pastor of Grace Bible Church. After his retirement, he moved to Alachua in order to be near family.
Ivan was known for his graciousness, his good nature, his infectious wit, his love of family, his dedication to preaching the Bible, and his devotion to service of God. He served as a Bible teacher at the First Baptist Church of Alachua.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Haley Felton; a daughter, Lucy Townley, of Covington, GA; a son, Rev. Douglas Felton, of Alachua; two sisters, Sylvia Crowe, of Okeechobee, FL and Lois DuBose, of Murfreesboro, TN. He has four grandchildren, Cody and Lee Townley and Ryan and Haley Felton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1:00 P. M., in the First Baptist Church of Alachua, 14005 NW 146th Avenue, Alachua. Interment will follow in Newnansville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 12:15 P. M.
