Irene Louise McMeekin's Obituary
Irene Louise McMeekin, longtime resident of Hawthorne, passed away at the age of 73 on September 30, 2014.
“God gave her wings”

She worked at Hawthorne Laundromat for years and retired from Ace Hardware. Irene enjoyed life. Her likes included traveling, boating, the woods, casinos, shopping, holidays with family and many more.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Joseph McMeekin of Hawthorne; Eight children, Robert Bristow, Terry Bradley, Patrick Bradley, Randy Bradley, Becky Gay, Paul Little, Timothy Little and Cindy Little; step-son, Owen McMeekin; sisters, Hazel Wootten, Elaine Stone and Marleen Stewart; brother, Duane Poole; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her 4-legged children, Cracker and Pepper, which sometimes came before her children.
She was preceded in death by brother, Ron Bristow; sisters, Deloris Boody, Diana England and JoAnn LaFountain.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., at Ochwilla Baptist Church, SR 21 in Hawthorne, with Pastor Johnny Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 5, 2014, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME HAWTHORNE, US 301 South at Lake Avenue.
