Imogene Cowart HIll's Obituary
lmogene Cowart Hill,92 of Gainesville, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 21, 2023, in Gainesville.
lmogene (lmy) was born in Plant City, FL, on March 10, 1931, to William David Cowart, Sr., and Mineola Clanton Cowart. She grew up amongst a large, loving family. She was raised in Gainesville, Florida, and graduated from Gainesville High School, Class of 1949.
She was married to her best friend and sweetheart, Joseph William Hill, Sr., for 62 years. She volunteered and taught Good News Club for over 25 years throughout the Gainesville area. She also volunteered at her local church where she taught Sunday School and children's church and for the Alachua County School system. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
lmogene is preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, seven brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia C. Cauthen (Darius), Newberry, FL; son, Joseph W. Hill, Jr. (Odette), Gainesville and daughter, Dawn Hill Boyer (Eric), Gainesville, as well as three grandchildren (Heather Cauthen Zetrouer, Megan Hill and Dakoteh Boyer [Kiana]), two great-grandchildren (Damen Zetrouer and Deanna Zetrouer) and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Jonesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd St., Newberry, with Pastor Jim Riley.
