Idella Baumstein Lichter's Obituary
Idella Baumstein Lichter passed away November 5, 2016. She was born August 9, 1918 in Lake City, Florida, to parents Rebecca Rosenberg Baumstein and Harry Baumstein. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and Florida State College for Women (FSU). She married Joseph Lichter in 1948. They moved to Gainesville, Florida, where they raised their children and ran several successful businesses.
She spent many years volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Friends of the Library Book Shop. She worked out at the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center until she was 92. She loved to bike and walk the Black Acres neighborhood with her friends. Thanks go to the wonderful neighbors of Black Acres who were instrumental in helping Idella remain living independently in her home to the end of her life. Thanks also go to the caring staff at NFRH and Haven Hospice, who made her final days as comfortable as possible.
Idella was predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph and brother Mitchell. She is survived by daughter Suzanne (Dan Clark), son Byron, brother Jack (Rosalind), sisters-in-law Mimi Baumstein and Rosalind Baranovitz, and many special nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery in St. Augustine, Florida, with Rabbi David Kaiman presiding.
