Howard David Newsome's Obituary
Howard David Newsome, “Papa” to his family, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Newsome was born in Jackson County, Florida on March 21, 1937 to the late Isaac and Charlotte Newsome, and had lived in Gainesville since 1962. Mr. Newsome worked for many years in the auto parts business, as a salesman and manager of various stores around Gainesville. He was a U. S Army Reservist for many years. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was a Gator fan, and a Gator booster and season ticket holder. Mr. Newsome coached youth baseball for many years, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, an infant Alford, and Eugene and Joe Newsome.
Survivors include, his wife of over 56 years, Lucille Newsome; two daughters, Angie Perry and Cyndy (Byron) Bush; a son, Gregory (Jinger) Newsome; three brothers, Richard Newsome, Donald Newsome and Wayne Newsome; three sisters, Lavon Cameron, Lucille Harmon, and Ann Robinson; five grandchildren, Heather (Darrell) McMahan, Timothy Green, Adam Newsome, Shelbie Green and Elayna Green; three great granddaughters, Hayleigh, Alexis and Aubrey McMahan.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M.
