Howard D. Godwin's Obituary
Howard D. Godwin, a resident of Gainesville and surrounding area for 70 years, was a member of the Church of God, and spent his last working years at the University of Florida, making sure the O'Connell Center stayed ready for the Gators to Growl and play.
He was father to three sons; Dan, Paul, and David, and four daughters; Martha, Nancy, Jo Ann, and Carolyn. He was grandfather, and great-grandfather to many.
He was known to some as a painter, and by some as a roofer, but to all, a big hearted man who loved his city and his church. He was also very proud to be a blood donor of more than 50 gals.
He studied the Bible and loved to discuss his Salvation and was a prayer warrior for many.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westwood Hills Church of God, 1520 NW 34th St, Gainesville.
