Howard K. Blackson's Obituary
Howard K. Blackson, 85, of Newberry, Florida passed away in Gainesville on October 7, 2015. He was born March 27, 1930 to Howard O. and Sally Tabor Blackson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the Korean and Vietnam War. He retired from the USAF after 20 years of service, and from the Army Air Force Exchange after 15 years of service. He was a double Purple Heart recipient.
Howard moved to Gainesville 25 years ago from New Jersey. He loved to fly, and had many different hobbies and interests. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Blackson; children, Tracy (Macgregor) Cawley of Alachua, Laura (Mike) Braden of Archer, Richard (Vicki) Blackson of Lake Mary, and Robert (Cindy) Blackson of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Dorothy Rosewall and Alice Corman, both of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Edge and Aleczander, Nicohlas, and Courtney Blackson; and one great granddaughter, Kierstie Meldau.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Dr. Don McGarity officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32606.
