Howard Clayton Adkins Sr.
April 4th, 1945 — May 30th, 2026
Howard Clayton Adkins Sr., 81, of Hawthorne, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on May 30th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Howard was born on April 4th, 1945 in Donalsonville, GA to Quitman O’Neal Adkins and Dessie Mae Adkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda Adkins; his three children, Dana Priest (Wayne), Stacey Scaife (Bill), and Howard Clayton Adkins Jr. (Serena); seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Before devoting himself fully to ministry, Howard worked for more than 20 years as a supervisor with Winn-Dixie. In 1982, he and his wife, Reverend Linda Adkins, founded Words of Light Church, where Linda serves as senior pastor and Howard stood faithfully beside her as the church administrator, steadfast partner, and supporter.
A memorial / celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Words of Light Church, with Karol Lowery officiating.
