Hortensia Lamadrid's Obituary
Hortensia Lamadrid, age 86, passed away on November 30, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on May 1, 1936, in Havana, Cuba to Juan Fernandez-Oliva and Emelina Soureau.
She is a retired teacher of 36 years in elementary school education. Her last 10 years at Queen of Peace Academy.
Hortensia dedicated her life to her family and her devotion to teaching. . Her faith in God is unique and helped get through adversity at most difficult times. She was a wonderful wife of 61 years with Ernesto and a very loving mother who did everything for her son and his family. Her granddaughters enjoyed receiving all her love and she dedicated the last 30 years caring for them from birth to today. We always enjoyed her great sense of humor and loved making people laugh and have a good time. She will be greatly missed but we know she is reunited with her parents and all those who loved her.
Hortensia is survived by her husband, Ernesto Lamadrid; daughter-in-law, Nelida Lamadrid; granddaughters, Priscila Lamadrid, Patricia Lamadrid, and Paloma Lamadrid; sister, Glady’s Fernandez. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Fernandez-Oliva and Emelina Soureau, sister Emelina Sanchez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 S.W. 24th Ave. Gainesville, Florida. with Fr. Al Esposito as Celebrant.
