Horace Harold Thomas Sr.'s Obituary
Horace Harold Thomas, Sr., age 85 of Alachua, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 in Haven Hospice Chiefland Care Center. He was born May 31, 1929 in Lacrosse, Florida to the late George Smith and Callie Holder Thomas. Horace graduated from Alachua High School and then joined the United States Army. He worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 32 years of service. He was an avid Gator Football fan and also enjoyed reading. A member of Antioch Baptist Church, he was a very giving person and fed the hungry.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annelle Thomas; daughters, Felinda Thomas Rubin (Michael) of Fort Myers, FL, Dara Thomas Caudle (Everett) and Vanda Thomas of Gainesville, FL; son, Horace H. Thomas, Jr., of Jersey City, NJ; brothers, Odell Thomas (Earlene) of Sampson, AL and Fred Thomas (Marion) of Seffner, FL; sisters, Avy Kreutler and Mary Ray, both of Gainesville, FL and grandchildren, Jamie and Zachary Rubin, and E.J. and Kennon Caudle.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 3612 NW 177 Ave, with Pastor Daniel Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 30, 2015, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to a favorite charity or church.
