Henry Francis Weisenburger's Obituary
Henry Francis Weisenburger, APSA, MNEC, age 96 of Wayland, MA passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Gainesville, FL. Born May 22, 1924 in Astoria, NY and grew up in W. Palm Beach, FL.
He was a member of CAP Coastal Patrol #3 during WWII. He attended Univ. of Miami and graduated in 1951 from University of Florida Dept of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He relocated to the Northeast. His vocation of Aeronautical Engineering spanned 45 yrs. working for 3 companies including MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Raytheon, he had remarkable contributions and accomplishments. He and his teams shared great mutual respect. He was a member of American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (AIAA) for 70yrs. When he was in Gainesville, FL he would attend the monthly breakfasts at the Keystone Heights Airport.
Henrys' avocation of Photography kept him active and involved outside of work from his teen yrs. to the time of his death. He won many local, national and international awards. A highly respected judge in competitions he shared his vast knowledge with all that were interested. Member of the Boston Camera Club (BCC) since 1954, currently serving on two committees. A founding member of Massachusetts Camera Naturalists (Mass CamNats), Charter Life member of the Photographic Historical Society of New England (PHSNE), member of New England Camera Club Council (NECCC), founding member of Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers (SVNP) and member of Photographic Society of America (PSA). Henry also contributed to several other photographic, naturalist and historical groups.
Henry, a patient, humble man of vision with focus to finish.
Survived by wife Elizabeth Phillips Weisenburger; children, Lisa Birkner and David Phillips; and niece Jan Williams (Conrad).
Preceded in death by his brother, John Weisenburger, son, George Phillips and first wife Hazel Weisenburger.
A graveside visitation will be Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Forest Meadows East, 3700 SE Hawthorne Road with Reverend Alex Farmer officiating.
