Hazel Lee King's Obituary
Hazel Lee King, 92, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, December 1, 2025, in the North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, following a long illness.
Mrs. King was born in Gainesville, on March 11, 1933, to the late Willie Mack and Musette Williams. She was raised in and around the Ocala/Leesburg area but had lived most of her life in Gainesville. Mrs. King was a longtime member of the Greater Bethel A. M. E. Church, where she served on the Stewardess Board. She loved gardening and ceramics, reading and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie King in 1972, along with her brothers and sisters, Lula White, Josie Bell Randolph, Ellie Mae Gooden, Walter Mack Williams, and Robert Williams.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan King (James) Jones, of Lilburn, GA, and Beverly King, of Gainesville; her two sons, Timothy (Judy) King, and Donny King, both of Gainesville; three grandchildren, Deric (Dania) King, Vincent (Mei) Jones and Jeremiah King; five great grandchildren, Breanna (Ashell) King, Vonte King, Dee King, Derian King and Kelani King and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 A. M., in the Greater Bethel A. M. E. Church, 701 SE 43rd Street, Gainesville, with Pastor Ron Rawls, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
