Harry Landon Maize "Lanny"'s Obituary
Harry Landon Maize “Lanny”, age 80, of Williston, FL, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at home with his family by his side. He was born December 15, 1942, in Sharon Hill, PA to the late Harry Reno and Marion Fry Maize. Lanny graduated from Scotch Plains High School, in NJ in 1960. After graduation, he opened an auto body collision repair shop. Lanny loved the trade and was a perfectionist who would continue repairing, restoring, painting cars and showing them in car shows until retirement. Back in the day, many would agree that he was one of the best and most talented paint men around.
Lanny and his wife had 3 children, Nicholas, Lisa and Marilyn and the family relocated to Florida from NJ in 1970. It was then that they met lifelong friends, Bruno and Rose (deceased) Colbacchini, and their three children, Don, Patty and Rick, with whom they spent many years vacationing together, boating, skiing, scuba diving, racing go-carts, hunting and building many memories and a friendship that lasts still today, 50 years later. Lanny and Bruno who considered themselves brothers were able to have a final visit, just a few weeks ago. Some other special friends from his adult life also were able to visit before his passing, and we are thankful to each of you. We are especially thankful to April Wilson of Williston, FL, for not only taking wonderful care of our father as he declined, but also of our family for she is a beautiful, kind person, so giving and strong in faith that she shared with our father and us as well.
Lanny was predeceased by his parents and son Nicholas Maize. He is survived by his sister, Sherry Lemmon, Gainesville, FL, his daughters, Lisa Tomlinson (Mark), Williston, FL, Marilyn Young (Randy), Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Courtney Cribbs (Matthew), Brittny Prevatt (Zachery), Taylor Tomlinson, Kyle Young (Kaitlyn) and Christopher Young. His niece and nephew Heather Lemmon and James Lemmon (Leah). He has seven great grandchildren who brought him much joy in his later years.
