Hansford White “Bill” Farris, Ph.D., died peacefully in Gainesville on December 7, 2014 at the age of 95. He was born in Kentucky to Dr. Jacob and Zola Farris. He was Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at th Read Obituary
My association with Bill Farris started roughly in the late 50's, soon after I arrived on the campus of the Univ. of Michigan, and continued until just a few weeks before his death. He was a huge influence on my career at the UM. About a year or two ago I cooperated with him in writing a history of Bill Dow, the originator of 5 Laboratories at the UM. My memories of him and his influence will last my lifetime.
