Gregory Pitt Purvis' Obituary
Gregory Pitt Purvis passed away on May 22, 2024, at the age of 55. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and brother. After three long years in a struggle against cancer, Greg went peacefully in the warming presence of his closest friends and family.
He was born July 29, 1968, to Billie Rose Purvis and Coen Vernon Purvis in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He is remembered by his loving wife of 33 years, Kelley, his sons, Dylan, Zach and Cole, his brothers, Coen and Tim, his incredible nieces, nephews and cousins, and the rest of his closest family.
The greatest pride in Greg’s incredible life was his family. He and his wife, Kelley, created a loving home for their three sons and instilled in each them lessons and values that will transcend generations. Greg was a devoted parter to Kelley, a best friend, a lifelong travel buddy, and the column that helped support such a loving home for his family. He was a role model, teacher and coach to Dylan, Zach and Cole on their journey to adulthood, attending every race, game, graduation, etc. that he could.
In the few years following Greg’s diagnosis, he lived life to the fullest, traveling the world with his wife, reconnecting with old friends, and watching his three boys blossom into fantastic young men. Beyond all else, Greg will be remembered for his strength, perseverance, and unyielding commitment to those around him, even in the face of death.
