Grady Milton Irwin's Obituary
Grady Milton Irwin, age 80 of Gainesville, FL passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026. He was born September 17, 1945, in Asheville, NC to Grady Earl and Frances Helen Ebbs Irwin.
Grady was a brilliant chess player and an avid Gator fan.
Grady was part of the Gleim organization for more than 44 years, and the company was incredibly fortunate to have had him as a member of the Gleim family for so long.
Grady’s journey with Gleim began in the early 1970s, when he enrolled in Dr. Gleim’s Advanced Financial Course and set the curve for the class. Impressed by his talent and aptitude, Dr. Gleim invited him to assist in editing the second edition of the CPA Review materials. Years later, after Grady graduated from the University of Florida’s law school, Dr. Gleim happened to run into him at the Reitz Union bookstore. When Grady mentioned he was unsure of his next step, Dr. Gleim simply told him to report to the office the following day — and from that moment on, the rest became history.
Over the next 44 years, Grady served as a dedicated and hardworking member of the Gleim team. He was truly committed to his craft and unmistakably himself — independent, soft-spoken, and happiest working in his tiny “closet office.” He preferred paper over computers, walked everywhere, and brought a quiet consistency, thoughtfulness, and passion to everything he did. Gleim was a significant part of his life, and he took great pride in contributing to the company and supporting its mission.
Grady is survived by his siblings, Danny S. Irwin (Priscilla) and children, Wendy and Paul; Tamara DeForest Lewis and children, Ashley, Brittany and Cousin Missy; Mark L Irwin and children, Tammy, Jackie and Lance and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother; Helen DeForest Ebbs and his parents.
Grady will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His legacy lives on in the work he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
