Grace Lucille Jenkins' Obituary
Grace Lucille Stewart Jenkins passed away on August 14, 2022. Grace was born to
the late Henry and Elsie Stewart on March 6, 1941, in Tampa, Florida, before moving to Gainesville.
She was a talented seamstress and made several beautiful wedding dresses.
Later in life, as her eyesight deteriorated, she turned to quilting,
crocheting, and other crafts with the aid of her wonderful sisters.
She enjoyed spending time outdoors on Florida’s rivers, lakes, ocean
and the Everglades.
She and her cherished Fairbanks friends were known to have a spur-of-the-moment
shindig on any given Friday. There were always plenty of fish and her
famous hushpuppies to go around.
Grace will be terribly missed by her daughters Carol Tear (Cliff) and Theresa
Jones (Chuck), her grandchildren Bonnie Alfonso (Terrence), Leah Jones
(Asa), Courtney Jones, Kandace Skaff (Brian) and
Hunter Herndon (Charlotte), her siblings Ann (Nanny) Griffis, Sharon
Joines, Ernest Stewart, Dianne Robbins, and Judy McCollough, her eleven
great-grandchildren and many friends.
She was employed at Vital Industries for many years and then entered the
The Food Service Manager program for Alachua County resulted in
years as Food Service Manager at Metcalfe Elementary school. She retired in 1999.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Williams-Thomas Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
