Wright, Glennie Lloyd, 80
McIntosh - Mr. Glenn Wright, 80, of McIntosh, FL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, January 12, 2014. Glenn was born near Toronto, Camden County, MO on May 2, 1933 to Garcia ("Garsy") and Ruby (Allee) Wright.
Glenn graduated Salutatorian of his high school class in Eugene, MO, 1951, and served honorably during the Korean Conflict as a Specialist Third Class in the U.S. Army. He began his career in Civil Service as an electronic technician with the Dept. of Defense at the Nike/Ajax-Hercules Air Defense Command. In 1970 Glenn transferred to Miami’s Air Traffic Control Center where he received several career service awards as Senior Electronic Support Technician. He retired in 1988 after 35 years of government service.
Having a lifelong interest in music, Glenn was a talented violinist, guitarist and singer, as well as an expert in violin maker identification.
A devoted husband and father, Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elinor Rose (Gregory); children: Robert, Susan, Jeanne, and Daniel; sister Patricia Tucker and brother Merlin Wright (Eldon, MO), Bernie Wright (Kirkwood, MO) and Alan Wright (St. Louis, MO); grandchildren Richie Whisenant, Laura Piro, Gregory Piro, Lydia Wright; great-grandchildren Sydney and Sophia Whisenant.
At an early age, Glenn was baptized into the Church of Christ, remaining a faithful Christian to the end.
Funeral services will be held at the University City Church of Christ, Gainesville, FL, on Thursday, January 16th at 2:00 pm, with burial following at Santa Fe Cemetery, Hampton, FL.
