Glenn E. Thomas' Obituary
Glenn E. Thomas, 72, passed away after a brief illness on June 6th, 2023. Glenn was born on February 9th, 1951 in Miami, FL to Daisy and Lionel Thomas.
Glenn, a caring husband, father, and brother, is survived by his wife Teresa, sons John and Joel (Grace), daughter, Alaina, and sister Dianne. In addition to his immediate family, Glenn was a beloved uncle, mentor and friend to countless others.
He attended Florida State University, graduating with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work. During his career, he worked for Chriswell House, Grant Center Psychiatric Hospital, Children Youth and Families programs, Vocational Rehabilitation, Juvenile Justice, and the Alachua County School System. Glenn was a passionate and fierce advocate for at-risk youth, and took pride in the work he did with these many agencies over the years.
The most important thing in Glenn’s life was always his family. In his early life he was a dedicated son, brother and uncle. After marrying and starting his own family, he was an equally dedicated husband and father. Glenn and Teresa shared over 35 years together until his passing.
Glenn loved to spend time at the beach, swimming, surfing, and fishing. He enjoyed traveling, and spending time in numerous State and National parks across the United States. He was an avid reader, and a wonderful cook. Although he loved to barbecue, he learned to make delicious vegan food for his children. Despite his love for film, his taste in movies and television was questionable at best. Glenn had a strong sense of integrity, and often protested, marched, and spoke up for those experiencing injustice. He passed down his love for music to his children.
In honor of Glenn’s love for nature, consider a donation to your favorite State or National Park.
