Geraldine Jones Norwood's Obituary
Geraldine Jones Norwood, 96 of Gainesville, Florida died peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center.
Jeri was born on April 22, 1919 to C.F. and Pernia Ann Jones in Eastland, Texas. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and although unable to attend in recent years she remained steadfast to God and her Christian faith.
Jeri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family.
Jeri was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Dorus E. Norwood; her parents, C.F. and Pernia Ann Jones; brothers, J.C. Jones, Kenneth Jones, Bobby Jones and sister, Maxine Dennis.
She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Jones of Stephenville, Texas. Also surviving are her daughter, Paula N. Strawn and her husband Bill Strawn of Gainesville, FL and her son, Rev. Dr. Phillip W. Norwood and his wife Pam of Jamestown, NC; two grandsons, Todd Strawn of Canyon Lake, CA and Christopher Norwood of Raleigh, NC as well as her four great grandchildren, Kyle Strawn, Allyson Strawn, Jake Strawn and Samantha Strawn.
Interment will be a family graveside service at Evergreen Municipal Cemetery in Sanford, Florida. A memorial service at the Atrium, 2431 NW 41st Street, Gainesville, where she made her home for the past two years, will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Melissa Pisco of Celebration UMC and Rev. Dr. Phillip Norwood officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
