Geraldine Ference's Obituary
Gerry Ference, age 78 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was born April 20, 1936 in Groveland, Florida to Elma Lee and Ruby Catherine Puryear.
Mrs. Ference was a graduate of Florida State University and was a member of Alpha XI Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Ference knew each other for 65 years, they married in 1958; Gerry and her husband had their first home built by her father in Clermont, FL. She and Earl moved to Gainesville in 1964.She taught at Santa Fe High School and Martha Manson.
She was an active member at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Garden Club and Junior League. She enjoyed her tennis and bridge club. Gerry was very active at the NW Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs. She was an ardent Gator fan.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Puryear and sister, Doris Thomas.
Gerry is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earl Ference; daughter, Cathy (Don) Dunlap of Orlando, FL; sons Jeff Ference (Shanee Mishoe) of Gainesville, FL; Joey (Shea) Ference of Melrose, FL; sister-in-law, Gwen Puryear; brother-in-law, Glenn Thomas; grandchildren, Brett, Amy, and Ben Dunlap; Haley, Jolie, Kaydin; grand dog, Cuervo.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Pendley officiating. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 823 NW 143rd Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NW Boy’s and Girl’s Club or to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606
