Gerald William Bortz's Obituary
Gerald William Bortz, 91, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Bortz was born on November 27, 1926 in Wisconsin, and lived most of his adult life in Seneca Falls, New York.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and was trained as a medic during World War II. Mr. Bortz attended the FBI academy in Quantico, Virginia and then began a long career in law enforcement, retiring as Chief of Investigators in Seneca Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Bortz in 2009.
Survivors include; his daughter, Deborah Ann Trutschel of Gainesville; a son, Gerald (Julaine) Bortz, of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Anesa Meadors, Sherah Beasley, Leah Foxworth, John Bortz and Luke Bortz; five great grandchildren, Judah and Selah Foxworth, Emery Beasley and Alia and Rowyn Bortz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32607.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 9:30 A. M., at Holy Faith Catholic Church, Gainesville. Burial will follow in Countryside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
