George F. Reyes' Obituary
Mr. George F. Reyes, 68, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019, in the Shands Hospital, following a long illness.
Mr. Reyes was born on May 17, 1951 in Havana, Cuba. He was an educator and high school principal in Havana, before coming to the United States in 1980. Mr. Reyes lived for many years in Miami, Florida, working in loss prevention for several hospitals. He retired and moved to Gainesville in 2010. Mr. Reyes was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and had worked as a missionary on many trips to the Philippines. He loved to sing Karaoke, he enjoyed the camping and the outdoors, and enjoyed geography and history.
He is survived by his ex wife, Edna Reyes, of Gainesville; two daughters, Nguyen Morris, of Palm Bay and Joyce Reyes, of Orlando; three sons, Le Duan Reyes, of Colorado Springs, CO, Jorge Reyes-Wong of Minneola, and Alan Reyes, of Bellefonte, PA; one sister, Lourdes Hinnant, of Ft. Walton Beach; Seven grandchildren also survive.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 12:00 P. M., in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Ave., Gainesville. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the mass, beginning at 11:30 A. M. As requeste by the family, please do not send flowers to the church, due to Advent Season.
