George Fred Jaquith's Obituary
George Fred Jaquith, age 71, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022, at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida.
George was born on December 24, 1950, in Diaren, China. From China, George and his mother, Vera, moved to South Africa and Brazil, and then to the United States. During his early life, George lived throughout the United States and had a very happy childhood. George played football and ran track in high school, was a proud Eagle Scout, and was active within his community through the church.
Following graduation from high school, George attended Louisiana State University where he belonged to the Sigma Pi Epsilon fraternity. George proudly served in the United States Army as a Hercules Missile Crewman from 1971-1974, attaining the rank of Specialist. He served most of his tour in Germany. Upon his return home from Germany, he then served in the United States Army Reserves from 1974-1977. After finishing his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
George spent most of his career in the Middle East, specifically in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as a Mechanical Engineer for Saudi Aramco. He met his wife Susan in Kuwait, and they were married in 1987.
George enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening, reading, listening to music, and scuba diving. He was also a collector of stamps, coins, and currency.
George is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Susan K. Jaquith; his mother, Vera Jaquith; three children, Vivian Jaquith, Hal Jaquith, and Sasha (Ryan) Lederman; granddaughter, Kira Jaquith; his sister, Linda Jaquith; his brother, Robert Jaquith; and his beloved cats, Dylan and Ophelia.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Mel Jaquith.
