George E. Dampier's Obituary
George E. Dampier, age 75, of Trenton, FL died Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Haven Hospice. George Dampier was born May 1, 1944 to Fletcher and Iris Palmer Dampier in Fairbanks, FL. Mr. Dampier worked most of his life in construction as a roofer. He enjoyed his life’s work but always took the time to take people fishing and joke around. He treasured time with his family. You would often hear him calling his children the “lure losers” as he was taking them to fish. He LOVED to fish, and a good cold beer! His advice to everyone he met was “Don’t take any wooden nickels”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved daughter, Tammy Lynn, and sisters Evelyn Dampier and Vivian Wint.
Mr. Dampier is survived by his children Barbara Ann Hicks, Linda (John) Shepard, George Edward “Buddy” Dampier, Jr., and Brandy (Scott) Varnon; 5 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Frankie (Jane) Dampier, Jimmy (Laura) Dampier, John Gocek; 3 sisters, Sophia (Bill) Shepard, Joyce Robinson and Ethel Long. He is also survived by a large extended family and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00PM at Waters Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to Haven Hospice 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32606.
