George Joseph "Buddy" Cowan's Obituary
George Joseph “Buddy” Cowan, age 87 of Gainesville, FL passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born October 6, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Edwin John and Grace Montgomery Halloway Cowan.
Buddy proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. He loved watching and playing sports. He loved card games and bowling. He was a bowling coach for many years, at Ally Katz.
Buddy is survived by his daughters, Crystal Ambrosino of Gainesville, FL; Cindy Boyle of East Islip, NY; Susan Gallachio of Staten Island, NY and Grace Ann Troia of Lagrangeville, NY; brother, Donald Cowan of N. Massapequa, NY; ten grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Eddie, Chip, Theresa, Kimberly, Ashley, Cody, Glenn and Kyle; five great grandchildren, Aiden, Christopher, Daniel, Alona and Avery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa F. Cowan; brothers, Jack, Fred and Ed Cowan; sisters, Ann Eckhoff and Kathaleen Barina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave. with Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza as celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Theresa in Florida National Cemetery, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
