George Patrick Asbell, 67, of Newberry, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, May 15, 2016
Mr. Asbell was a native of Gainesville, Florida, son of the late Orlando Cecil and June Hutson Asbell. As a young man, he joined the U. S. Navy, worked for a short period of time for the railroad, and then began a long career with the Gainesville Fire Department; working for over 30 years before retiring in 2003. He loved fishing and raising his livestock. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Langford Asbell and by a son, Mark Asbell in 2008.
Survivors include; his wife, Jaye George Asbell; one daughter, Tammy Mosher; sons, Rick Asbell, Mike Asbell, Garrett Asbell, David Asbell and Thomas F. Wilson; two brothers, Cecil Asbell and Mike Asbell; a sister, Brenda Warren and by seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Rev. Elwood Baker, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 2119 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
