Gary Roger Wilson's Obituary
Gary Roger Wilson passed away at the age of 89 on September 23, 2024, in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on November 16, 1934, in Buffalo, New York. He was one of the six beloved children of Carroll and Alma Wilson. He moved to Port Richey, FL and then to Gainesville, FL in 1991.
Gary served in the United States Army, was stationed in Turkey during the Cold War, and was a proud Veteran. He was employed with Westinghouse 30 some years, as a production coordinator, and including foreman, where he ultimately retired when they closed. He was a dedicated husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, and a handyman who loved wood working, dancing, traveling, photography, and writing books/Papa’s Reflections. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball, walks on the beach, and creating & sending greeting cards as well.
Gary Wilson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Wilson; his children, Bradley Wilson (Cheryl), Jeffrey Wilson (Mary Ellen), Teri Howell (Kemp), Peter Linton, and Stephen Linton; Siblings, Marjorie Blakely (Harvey), Sally Nichols, Judy Gorlin (Steve), and Duane Wilson (Linda); Grandchildren, Jonathan, Shane, Jessica, Kristen, Ethan, Rachael, Courtney, Alyssa, Stephen, and Nathan; Great Grandchildren, Jordan, Lyra, Remi, Jaxson, Colt, Harley, Lily and Isla. He is predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Jones.
Memorial services for Gary Wilson will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Williams-Thomas Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry, Florida 32669, In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
