Gary Wayne Meece's Obituary
Gary Wayne Meece was born to his loving parents Virgil Meece and Rose Jones Meece August 1, 1948 in Somerset, Kentucky and passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Aggie Meece for 42 years. Devoted and loving father of Duane Meece and his fiance Christina Roberts. Dearest brother of Jerry Meece and his wife Stephanie and Angela Ann. Gary moved to South Florida at age 11 from Kentucky and served in Vietnam First Marine Division. He worked for the Miami Dade Department of Corrections and retired as a division cheif in 2005. While with the Miami Dade Department of Corrections, Gary founded the Miami Dade County Boot Camp that is the only youthful boot camp program still in operation in the United States. Gary retired February 1, 2005 and passed away February 1, 2016 exactly 67 1/2 years old to the day. He loved Pigeon Racing and maintained a loft of homing pigeons in North Florida. A die hard Elvis fan and he loved the Andy Griffith Show. Gary was always concerned about honor and doing the right thing. Above all he was a man of honor and integrity. Funeral Mass 11 AM Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines. Interment will be at Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston, Florida on Monday, February 8, 2016. The family will receive relatives and friends at Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Home, Pines Memorial Chapel 9000 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines from 7-9 PM Thursday, February 4, 2016. Graveside Services will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., in Orange Hill Cemetery, 3502 NE 180 Avenue, Williston, with military honors.
