Freddie Dean Ragin's Obituary
Freddie Dean Ragin, 69, of Newberry, Florida passed away March 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Freddie was born in Deland, Florida on January 7, 1956. Right after he graduated from high school, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served for several years. He later went on to become a landscape designer. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed cooking, caring for his yard and spending time with his family. For Freddie, family was everything and he was known to give more than he received. His other pastime was rooting for the Gators.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Jackson Ragin, his daughter Vernita Gail Robinson, sons, Cameron Scott, Ernest Robinson, and Larry James; bonus daughters, Koko Frazier and Shanta James, his sisters Mary Carroll, Violet Cartledge, Betty J. Ragin, Denise Woolford, Belinda G. Ragin, Cordelia Ford; brothers James Ragin Jr., Robert Lee Ragin, Sr., Harold Ragin, Perrain P. Ragin, Jerry F. Ragin; seven grandchildren; numerous extended family and countless friends.
He is preceded by his sister Pearl Armstead and his parents James W. Ragin, Sr. and Camilla Andrews Ragin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church 120 S.E. Williston Rd. Gainesville, FL. 32641
